Rototom Sunsplash announces the first artists of its 2021edition

Immagine
In 6 years of RQL it never happened that we missed out on Rototom Sunsplash, but I guess there is a first time for everything, of course due to the current situation with the Covid pandemic was obvious that many (basically all of them) events, festivals and gigs would have been cancelled, and while all this made our summer weird and sad, it fills us up with joy to know that there are already plans for the next editions, it gives us something to look forward, and we can't wait to live again those festival vibes that only few festivals in the world can give you.  The 27th edition of Rototom Sunsplash, will take place always in Benicassim from the 16th to the 22nd of august 2021. We are happy to see that Toots & The maytals, Barrington Levy, Julian Marley, Inna de Yard and Morodo have been re-confirmed and that some names such as Koffee, Hempress Sativa and Alborosie have been added to the line up. Below you can find the whole list for the first line- up announ...

Rototom 2019, is getting closer and we couldn't be happier, Rototom is home, the place where we always feel welcome and we can't wait to be there again this year. We already knew the dates for this year's edition since the second we left the festival ended, which are from the 16th till the 22nd of august ; but now that we have also the first line up announcements everything feels more realistic. We already have 23 artists who will bring the sound to the 26th edition of Rototom Sunsplash. On the crest of this first announcement there are 3 Jamaican musical aces ; starting with Ziggy Marley ,  and joining him is the modern reggae crown Chronixx -with Rototom being his only date in Spain- and Busy Signal  who has accompanied Major Lazer with his sharp verser and who will return to Benicassim after 5 years. Rototom Sunsplash 2018 -Day 2 -

Immagine
Sun and rain took turns blessing the second day of  Rototom 2018. As this year's motto says ''25 years walking together'' either in the festival and in the camping place everybody seems to be in constant motion, walking from place to place, form activity to workshop to finally dance the day ( and the night ! ) away once the sun goes down. In the windwhirl of things available here some of yesteray's highlights ( beside the music of course). At 16:00 in the Reggae University we had the chance to see 'The Harder they come', followed at 18:00 by the conference 'Who jump the gun' Violence in Contemporary Jamaica. After these two interesting  but kind hard sessions, we  enjoyed  innocence and colors in the Magico Mundo, enjoying the kids playing together despite the different languages ( kids are always the greatest teachers !) and in the Zona Urbana-Skate Park where older and younger together could experiment with Parkour with the super kind crew wh...

Rototom Sunsplash 2018 -Day 1-

Last year was out first year in Rototom Sunsplash, the biggest European reggae festival. When we left the gates of Rototom we made a promise to ourself that we would come back to the festival the year after as well. Well after many kilometers here we are ! Same place, same vibes a year after.  The 25th edition of the festival that brings together every year thousands of people, from different countries, different backgrounds, different lives with only a thing in common : the love for the music and life, has officially started yesterday.  Even if it was the first day we can say it has started pretty well, with music from 9 different stages, a very interesting reggae university conference with Koffee, circus and also a percusion parade.  Julian Marley (which we got to interview so stay tuned) was the first name for the Main stage, and was followed by the great Cocoa tea ft Koffee and to end the incredible night for the main stage Ben Harper !  ...

Rototom Sunsplash for Aquarius

Immagine
Yesterday evening we got a reason more to love and support Rototom Sunsplash. Which is not only an amazing music festival, but it's a festival managed from people with a big heart and good principals. We all heard in the last days about the Aquarius-boat and the unfortunate fate of the 629 migrants on board who have been denied access to Italian harbours. Here Rototom's answer: " Rototom Sunsplash, which is promoting values and messages of peace, love, tolerance, integration and respect since the beginning of its existence, wants to show full solidarity to the 629 people who were saved on the Aquarius - boat of the NGO SOS Mediterranée and Doctors Without Borders - who will get to the port of Valencia in the following hours after being refused by Italian government on their country.     Moreover, Rototom Sunsplash wants to offer, through its NGO Exodus, help to all institutions, social organisations and entities involved in helping thes...

Rototom Sunsplash 2017- Celebrating Africa

Immagine
It was exactly one year ago in Loviisa, when we started daydreaming about covering Rototom Sunsplash as media. It has been a long year of working hard, brainstorming and promoting. But all our efforts have been rewarded by getting our accreditation. As an independent radio it has been a really exciting pursuit from such a big festival. So here we are, are you ready for a walk inside the biggest european reggae event with us ? Let’s begin with the media center, which is something you hardly ever see. It is just on the left of the main stage, very cozy and useful area for every professional working here.  But let's go on with our visit. The festival area is one of the most eclectic and sparkling you may imagine. Thematic areas, uplifting quotes and art everywhere, and delicious and spiced smells from the several ethnic restaurants. There are several stages displaying artists that go from old school roots to the most up-to-date Dance Hall, for ever...
