In occasion of the International Women Day, we want to present you "Old School" the new single from the beautiful and talented Jamaican singer SumeRR. This single is the first excerpt from the forthcoming debut album by Tressan Barnett, born in Mendeville (Jamaica) but resident in Tenerife (Spain).  On her arrival to Spain SumeRR reached out to the veteran Ras Kuko, who by the way we got to meet and talk about his project " Reggae can help " during the last edition of Rototom Sunsplash, who helm the musical and excutive production of "Old School"  The single "Old School" represents a beginning, a journey of sorts through the artist's origins. Throwback Thursday; today's throwback is about an album that was released back on December 2018, we are talking about the Senegalese born Italy based Sun Sooley,  3rd  solo album  "Rise and Shine". The album has been anticipated by three singles - Ghetto Life, African Rebel  and African Rise Up. It has also been signposted by three video clips:  Only Good Vibes; International (presenting the songwriter as ambassador of Senegalese reggae music); and One God, about Rasta One love philosophy  (which, according to Sun Sooley, has lost much of its meaning in reggae music). Finally the day we have all been waiting for what feels like an ice age has arrived  : Forelock & Arawak  second album ; produced by the one and only Paolo Baldini , “To the Foundation” is finally out ! And also the 7th edition of OverJam reggae festival had come to an end. For RQL it was our first experience in OverJam and in Slovenia ; and we left a piece of our heart there. The only word we can think of, when we want to describe OverJam is "Amazing" ; the organization was excellent. From the secutiry to the info point, all we found was kindness and expertise. The artists were the real top notch of reggae scene. The last day was blessed by a gorgeous wheather, the river has quickly become the place to stay to chill in every sense. Workshop, children's area, music and a wonderful and powerful university with Italee ; and Israel Voice (which we later saw) about the role of women in contemporary reggae music. Photo from Run It Agency   Last week Patois Brother, the italian reggae band from Venice (Italy), made our tuesday nicer with the realase of their new video, for the song Switch Off Babylon. We got to hear Patois Brother for the first time last august in Rototom Sunsplash, and has been love at first sight, their music and lyrics are amazing and it really and it really fascintes you in a way that not every musician is able to. Switch off Babylon, is taken from the band latest album "Wise and Wild" that was relased last year, an album that not only contains great music with very meaningful lyrics but also a wonderful collaboration in the tune "Life Learning" with the Jamaican reggae legend Max Romeo.
