People in Germany !  Yesterday the biggest event of Afro-diasporic street dance culture in Germany has started ; and it will go on until the 2nd of June, in  Gemeinschaftshaus Gropiusstadt in Berlin.  Tonight, actually in about 40 minutes, there will be a CDC conference with the professor Donne P. Hope who is back at CDC for the second time. Donna is a professor at the university of the west Indies (Kingston, JAM) found of the dancehall archive and  research initiative and author of many publications which can be considered milestones in the field.  From the instagram stories on the CDC account feels like the event is an amazing thing, and I hope next year RQL will be able to join the event physically, but in the meanwhile we will enjoy it from here.

OverJam 2018: the last day chronicles

And also the 7th edition of OverJam reggae festival had come to an end. For RQL it was our first experience in OverJam and in Slovenia ; and we left a piece of our heart there. The only word we can think of, when we want to describe OverJam is "Amazing" ; the organization was excellent. From the secutiry to the info point, all we found was kindness and expertise. The artists were the real top notch of reggae scene. The last day was blessed by a gorgeous wheather, the river has quickly become the place to stay to chill in every sense. Workshop, children's area, music and a wonderful and powerful university with Italee ; and Israel Voice (which we later saw) about the role of women in contemporary reggae music. The last overjam night was amazing, the main stage displayed Shanti Powa followed by Brain Holidays(band from Croatia which we had the chance to interview soon before their show... So stay tuned ;) and Italee (a strong woman, with great energy and an amazing a...

Rototom Sunsplash 2017- Celebrating Africa

Immagine
It was exactly one year ago in Loviisa, when we started daydreaming about covering Rototom Sunsplash as media. It has been a long year of working hard, brainstorming and promoting. But all our efforts have been rewarded by getting our accreditation. As an independent radio it has been a really exciting pursuit from such a big festival. So here we are, are you ready for a walk inside the biggest european reggae event with us ? Let’s begin with the media center, which is something you hardly ever see. It is just on the left of the main stage, very cozy and useful area for every professional working here.  But let's go on with our visit. The festival area is one of the most eclectic and sparkling you may imagine. Thematic areas, uplifting quotes and art everywhere, and delicious and spiced smells from the several ethnic restaurants. There are several stages displaying artists that go from old school roots to the most up-to-date Dance Hall, for ever...
